Infrastructure Engineering Intern

Bessemer Trust is seeking an Infrastructure Engineering Intern with a strong foundation in systems engineering, scripting, and evaluating emerging technologies. This role involves assisting senior engineers in managing and automating various infrastructure components, ensuring security and compliance across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.

The Bessemer Trust Internship Program:

Our summer internship program offers real world experience working side-by-side with experts from departments and offices across our firm.  Working within your designated team, you will manage individual and group projects, interact with senior leaders, and attend a variety of career development sessions. You will also network with fellow interns in-person and virtually, as well as during our intern days held in our New York headquarters.   

This 10-week program is designed to mimic the experience of a full-time employee, providing an opportunity to build subject matter expertise and enhance your career at Bessemer and beyond.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Under the supervision of senior engineers, develop and enhance infrastructure automation scripts to:
  • Implement system changes and automation of operational tasks
  • Improve and maintain system security
  • Customize system settings, configurations, and infrastructure orchestration
  • Participate in the evaluation and integration of new and emerging technologies
  • Contribute to the development of infrastructure requirements for new projects and applications
  • Assist in documentation, testing, and research efforts
  • Support the management and optimization of cloud and on-premises infrastructure, including some of all of the following: AWS, VMware, and Windows/Linux environments, Cisco / Meraki and Arista networking components and Palo Alto firewalls and other infrastructure

Qualifications:

  • Students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field.
  • Ideally, the candidate will have an understanding of more than one of the technologies or tools from the following list:
    • Cloud Computing (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, IBM, VMware)
    • Scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or equivalent
    • Infrastructure Automation and Orchestration tools (e.g., Ansible, Jenkins, Puppet, Chef)
    • Operating Systems: Windows Server/Desktop OS, Linux
    • An understanding of orchestration platforms, workflow design, and basic programming languages (e.g., SQL, JavaScript, PHP, C#) is a plus

 

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $24.00 - $26.00. Hourly rates will vary and will be based on various factors.
