Foreign Service Officer

Become an Agricultural Diplomat with FAS!

Are you ready for a career that allows you to support U.S. farmers and ranchers, live in diverse locations and learn new languages? If so, the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) could be the perfect fit for you! FAS is recruiting new Foreign Service Officers (FSOs) to represent USDA at U.S. Embassies and Consulates worldwide. FAS is a small but dynamic foreign affairs agency with approximately 90 offices around the world. Overseas, FSOs play a crucial role in analyzing global agricultural production and trade, marketing U.S. agricultural products, promoting global food security, and combating climate change through capacity-building projects. They are responsible for supporting FAS efforts in agricultural trade promotion; market intelligence, trade policy; trade capacity building, and food security. FSOs can expect to spend about a quarter of their career serving in USDA/FAS headquarters in Washington, D.C. in positions throughout the agency, and the rest in a variety of overseas locations. The application is open on USAJobs and will remain open until October 16th. We eagerly await your participation in representing USDA in countries across the globe, a role that comes with great pride and distinction. We look forward to seeing you soon.
