Position Overview:

This position is accountable for implementing, monitoring, and evaluating the department's interview and selection process for technical and code position vacancies.

Essential Functions

  • Assigns, directs, monitors, and reviews all functions performed by the Interviewing Unit. Establishes procedures to be followed by staff members in carrying out individual activities and assists staff on the more involved problems confronted.
  • Coordinates the departmental job interview program for technical and code positions to ensure the integrity of the program and compliance with CEP/CMS guidelines.
  • Coordinates approval of questions and selection criteria for departmental interviews.
  • Provides day-to-day guidance to the Interviewing Unit staff members.
  • Acts as the interview proctor for all interview sequences.
  • Counsels, trains, and evaluates staff responsible for scheduling and conducting interviews.
  • Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules.  Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of a bachelor's degree majoring in human resources management or business, PLUS three years of administrative experience in a human resources environment; OR
  • Eleven years of administrative experience in a human resources environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Supervisory experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships among diverse groups of professional and technical personnel
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, and Access
  • Detail-oriented, well-organized, and ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously

Conditions of Employment

  • Valid driver's license
  • Occasional statewide travel with overnight stays
  • Successful completion of a background screening.
