Part-time - Business Support Specialist II

 

In this position, you will perform a wide variety of general technical duties in support of the Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services Department. This position plays a key support role in the department’s digital accessibility effort through document management and data entry in addition to supporting the office front desk.

This is a .75 full-time position with benefits, averaging 30 hours per week. Additional hours may be scheduled as needs arise. Normal work schedule includes in office presence Monday - Friday within core business hours. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function in the performance of this job. 


Essential Job Functions- the basic job duties an employee must be able to perform:

  • Complete timely and accurate data entry across various platforms
  • Respond to public inquiries associated with park operations, special events and customer service
  • Investigate issues, compile data, and ensure resolution or escalation to management
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external agency customers
  • Participate in accessibility training with City Communications and IT
  • Review department documents, such as flyers, agendas, and slide presentations, to remedy inaccessible features and formatting before documents are published to the website.
  • Create accessible template documents for the agency to use such as agendas, meeting minutes, slides and etc.
      

Knowledge of:

  • Methods and techniques of data collection, research, and report preparation
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and Teams
  • Excellent organizational and customer service skills

Ability to:

  • Interpret policies and processes
  • Coordinate the collection, evaluation, and interpretation of information
  • Maintain a high degree of accuracy while working with large datasets from multiple data sources
  • Maintain detailed records and prepare reports

 

Successful candidates will have

 

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Three years of full-time, professional experience in a related field

One year of relevant work experience may be substituted for one year of required education (OR) one year of relevant academic coursework beyond the minimum requirement may be substituted for one year of required professional experience.

 

 

Ideal candidates will also have

 

  • Experience with customer relations
  • Experience working in a municipal government environment
  • Experience with digital content formatting and document management
  • Intermediate knowledge with Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office programs
  • Interest in learning more about digital accessibility

 

Additional Information

 

The City of Colorado Springs offers additional compensation depending on the position, area of assignment, and specific job assignments, including shift differential, pay differential, acting or lead, special assignment, hazard pay, longevity, cell phone allowance, uniform allowance, relocation, awards, standby, call out, compensatory time off, tuition, overtime, extra duty, incentive, holiday premium, proficiency, and vacation sell back.
