Position Overview:
We are seeking a Craft Payroll Assistant to join our Human Resources and Payroll team. This role will support the accurate and timely processing of union and non-union craft labor payroll in accordance with collective bargaining agreements and prevailing wage requirements. Ideal candidates are highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities of Craft Payroll Assistant:
- Collect and review daily field timecards for completeness and accuracy.
- Enter and process weekly payroll for craft employees using payroll software.
- Ensure compliance with union agreements, certified payroll reporting, and prevailing wage laws (including NYSDOL and Davis-Bacon).
- Assist with the preparation of certified payroll reports for public agencies.
- Communicate with superintendents and field staff regarding hours, pay codes, and corrections.
- Maintain employee records and documentation in accordance with company policy and legal standards.
- Support audits and internal reporting by organizing and retrieving payroll records.
- Coordinate with HR, Accounting, and Project Management as needed.
Craft Payroll Assistant Qualifications:
- 1 to 3 years of payroll or administrative experience (construction industry experience strongly preferred).
- Familiarity with union payroll and certified payroll regulations is a plus.
- Strong data entry skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with payroll software (e.g., Viewpoint, Foundation, Sage, or similar).
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable with digital timekeeping systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or relevant certification a plus.
