Open Table Coordinator

Open Table Mission: Open Table is a mobile food truck ministry of Zumbro Lutheran Church. All are welcome, including anyone who desires a free meal. Each week we serve a hot, free burrito meal, a prepared Kitchen Coalition meal through our partnership with Channel One, fresh produce, and pantry items.  We serve in the Oak Terrace, Parkside and East Ridge Estates neighborhoods in Rochester, MN.

Position Title: Open Table Coordinator

Supervisor: Director of Mission

Status: Part-time/hourly 15 hrs./wk.

Compensation: $15-$18

Overview: The Open Table Coordinator leads the work of volunteers and the ministry team by serving as the volunteer and weekly operations coordinator overseeing volunteers, inventory, and logistics of weekly service. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Kitchen Lead in Zumbro Kitchen, including oversight of kitchen volunteers, some food prep, cleaning, food packing, and logistics for the truck.
  • Team Lead on the truck, including overseeing volunteers, distributing meals, interacting with guests, and sharing weekly burrito report.
  • Volunteer management, including communication, sign up, and recruitment. 
  • Ensure weekly shopping for produce and pantry items.
  • Collaborate with Channel One and Kitchen Coalition Meal Program.
  • Support Open Table team and ZLC staff with telling the story of the mission and furthering the mission and vision of the ministry. This may include attending team meetings, special events, staff meetings, and assisting with the communication needs (as directed by the Director of Mission and the Open Table team).
  • Track weekly statistics and ensure the maintenance of Channel One Agency Partnership.
  • Complete and pass the online Child Protection and SafeServ Food Safety trainings.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Mission.

Schedule (subject to change):

Thursdays 2 – 7 PM required. 

            Remaining Hours Flexible - recommend a Tues. Thurs or Wed. Thurs. schedule. 

Qualifications:

  • An adult 18+ seeking a serving leadership experience in a progressive Christian church setting.
  • Valid driver’s license, vehicle, and proof of insurance.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs.
  • Highly adaptable, able to multi-task, comfortable interacting and leading with a diverse group of people, able to demonstrate self-direction, situational awareness, teachable, and a servant-leader spirit are needed skills in this position.
  • Experience working in food prep and/or diverse communities is a bonus.
  • No church affiliation required. The position is open to people of any faith (or no faith) commitment.
