Data and Analytics Intern
Ascot’s Summer Internship Program offers a unique opportunity to learn about the insurance industry within a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment. While the internship is primarily focused on data and analytics, interns will gain exposure to a wide range of functional areas across the company, including data and analytics, underwriting, claims, partnership engagement, reinsurance, legal and compliance, actuarial, operations, and IT. Interns will engage in hands-on learning, collaborate with experienced insurance professionals, and develop a comprehensive understanding of how these departments work together to assess risk and deliver client solutions.
Internship Position: Data & Analytics
A Day in the Life of a Data & Analytics Intern May Include:
- Working on data integration and delivery tasks, ensuring accurate and timely movement of data across systems
- Analyzing and troubleshooting data related issues and inconsistencies
- Participating in team meetings and cross-functional discussions with IT and other related teams to understand business needs
- Collaborating on projects focused on data moving from system to system to support key business objectives
- Participating in ascend learning activities and training sessions
A Successful Data & Analytics Intern Has:
- Preferred majors: Risk Management and Insurance, Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or other related fields
- Must be actively enrolled in an undergraduate program
- Expected undergraduate graduation year: 2027
- 0-2 years of working experience
- Active involvement in student organizations, campus initiatives, or leadership roles
Essential Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to interpret, profile, and validate data for accuracy and consistency
- Experience with tools such as SQL and Excel, including strong skills in pivot tables, to support data integration, reporting, and data visualization initiatives
- Knowledge of data governance standards, metadata management, and compliance requirements
- Familiarity with ETL processes (Azure Data Factory) is preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage with teams
- Effective time management and organizational skills to support multiple projects
