Postdoctoral Fellow – CosmicAI (NSF–Simons) at NSF NOIRLab

The NSF–Simons CosmicAI Institute seeks a postdoctoral fellow to conduct research on active galactic nuclei (AGN) and their host galaxies. Based at NSF NOIRLab, the fellow will support multi-wavelength data curation and analysis, and collaborate with CosmicAI teams applying advanced AI methods to astronomical data.

CosmicAI develops trustworthy, efficient, and explainable AI tools to accelerate discoveries about cosmic origins through partnerships with universities, national facilities, nonprofits, and industry. Fellows have access to world-class computational resources (including TACC’s 600-GPU Vista cluster) and opportunities to collaborate across CosmicAI sites and with DOE-funded AI initiatives.

The fellow will lead analysis of photometric, imaging, and spectroscopic DESI data and model predictions to study AGN and galaxy evolution, working closely with Stéphanie Juneau and Robert Nikutta (NOIRLab) and Adam Bolton (SLAC). The position includes 50% effort toward institute-related research and 50% for independent work. The appointment is for two years, renewable for a third.
