Website Graphic Designer

Website & Graphic Designer Intern (For Academic Credit Only)

Organization: Butterfly Walkers Inc. (501(c)(3) Nonprofit)
Location: Remote / Hybrid (Flexible)
Time Commitment: 8–12 hours per week (Flexible)
Duration: 1 academic semester (with option to extend)
Compensation: Unpaid – Academic/College Credit Only

Internship Overview

We are seeking a Website & Graphic Designer Intern who is creative, detail-oriented, and passionate about using design to support health advocacy and social impact. This internship is ideal for students pursuing college credit in graphic design, web design, digital media, marketing, or related fields.

 Please note: This is an unpaid internship intended solely for students who require academic/college credit. Documentation can be provided to your institution.

Responsibilities
    •    Assist with updating and maintaining the organization’s website (WordPress, Wix, or similar platforms)
    •    Design digital assets including:
    •    Social media graphics
    •    Flyers and event materials
    •    Web banners and infographics
    •    Support branding consistency across web and digital platforms (color palette, fonts, layout)
    •    Collaborate with leadership on advocacy campaigns, awareness months, and special initiatives
    •    Assist with basic UX/UI improvements and content layout
    •    Prepare graphics for email newsletters and presentations as needed

Required Skills & Qualifications
    •    Currently enrolled in a college or university and eligible for academic credit
    •    Majoring in or studying Graphic Design, Web Design, Digital Media, Marketing, Communications, or a related field
    •    Proficiency in design tools such as:
    •    Canva (required)
    •    Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) or Figma (preferred)
    •    Basic understanding of website platforms (WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, or similar)
    •    Strong attention to detail and visual storytelling skills
    •    Ability to meet deadlines and work independently in a remote environment
    •    Strong communication skills and openness to feedback

Preferred (Not Required)
    •    Experience designing for nonprofits, advocacy groups, or health-related organizations
    •    Familiarity with social media content sizing and accessibility best practices
    •    Interest in health equity, chronic illness advocacy, or nonprofit work
