Structural Inspection Engineer
Purpose:
Works in the field to inspect reinforced concrete construction of moderate and large size projects. Applies industry standards, basic structural engineering knowledge, and prescribed techniques and procedures. Coordinates with office staff and manager to resolve field issues. Responsible for efficiency of self. Acquiring an understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
Technical Responsibilities: Reads and understands construction documents, sketches, and shop drawings. Visits sites. Observes construction activities. Performs visual surveys. Reviews basic shop drawings for conformance with construction documents.
Managerial Responsibilities: Takes direction from supervisors and communicates about construction issues, construction progress, and tasks. Communicates to peers to coordinate multiple inspectors on site simultaneously. Educates engineers for inspection when appropriate.
Communication Skills: Possesses basic oral and written communication skills. Interacts with contractors and internal project staff.
Qualifications:
BS in degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering
BS in Structural Engineering (preferred)
Associate Concrete Special Inspector Certification (will train if necessary)
Equivalent Federal General Schedule: GS-5 or GS-7
