HVAC Design Engineer
HVAC Design Engineer
Goldman Copeland is a full-service MEP consulting engineering firm with a strong energy engineering practice embedded in our design work. We design systems for commercial, residential, healthcare, cultural, educational, and transportation facilities, with a heavy focus on complex existing buildings and high-rise projects in New York City.
We’re looking for an HVAC Design Engineer to join our mechanical team. This role is hands-on and design-focused. You’ll be responsible for developing HVAC systems that are efficient, code-compliant, and buildable, from early concepts through construction documents.
What You’ll Do
Perform field surveys of existing buildings and systems
Develop HVAC load calculations, energy and system sizing analyses
Produce HVAC drawings, details, schedules, and technical reports
Design HVAC systems from concept through detailed construction documents
Coordinate closely with electrical, plumbing, fire protection, architectural, and structural teams
Communicate directly with project managers, senior engineers, and occasionally clients and contractors
This is not a production-only role. You’ll be expected to understand the systems you design and how they function in the field.
