Grant Proposal Writer Intern

Role Description:

As a Grant Proposal Writer Intern within SkyIT’s Applications Team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the sourcing, preparation, and submission of funding applications and business grants that propel SkyIT’s innovative projects in fleet management technology, AI systems, and asset management. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to develop expertise in identifying grant opportunities, crafting compelling proposals, and navigating complex funding guidelines within a dynamic technology environment.

This program has been an incredibly valuable and enriching experience, offering hands-on exposure and real-world insights that are rarely available at this stage. One of the most unique aspects is the opportunity to be mentored directly by the CEO, gaining firsthand guidance, strategic perspective, and leadership insights that are invaluable for long-term growth. Importantly, this is the final session in which the program will be conducted, making it a truly exclusive opportunity that will not be repeated in the future. 


 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough research to identify new funding opportunities and grants aligned with SkyIT’s strategic goals and eligibility criteria.
  • Assist in drafting clear, persuasive, and compliant grant proposals and application responses that meet funder requirements.
  • Compile and organize supporting documents such as business plans, technical specifications, budget estimates, and compliance information.
  • Support the team’s internal coordination efforts by presenting new opportunities in weekly meetings, updating on progress, and refining applications based on feedback.
  • Maintain meticulous records of ongoing and past applications through SkyIT’s Applications Tracking Spreadsheet and Document Library to ensure easy access and audit readiness.
  • Learn and adapt to the constructive criticism given through mentorship sessions, taught by the CEO. 

Qualifications:

  • Must hold a Juris Doctor (JD) degree or be currently pursuing a Master of Laws (LLM), or a PhD in Law. Applicants should be currently enrolled in or have recently completed these graduate law programs, preferably with a focus on Business or Environmental Law, Public Policy & Regulatory Affairs, Communication for Science and Law, Information Policy, Energy & Climate Policy, International Environmental Law or related fields.
  • Candidates should not be enrolled in more than three courses during the internship period to ensure adequate availability and focus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce concise and compelling grant narratives.
  • Proven research competency, with an aptitude for legal and regulatory analysis related to funding and compliance.
  • Detail-oriented mindset ensuring accuracy and compliance with complex guidelines and eligibility requirements.
  • Comfortable with Google Workspace and Slack, or quick to learn new tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and collaborate effectively within a structured team workflow.
  • Familiarity or coursework in Science & Technology Policy, Economics & Policy, or Business Law is a plus.
  • Must be motivated students,eager to make a meaningful transition from academic life to professional settings. 

Internship Details:

This program offers a valuable opportunity to develop expertise in identifying grant opportunities, crafting compelling proposals, and navigating complex funding guidelines within a dynamic technology environment. Overall, this opportunity equips students with practical experience and personalized guidance to navigate professional environments with confidence.

  • The minimum internship duration is 3 months and minimum working hours per week is 20 hours.
  • This is an unpaid internship.
  • All applicants MUST be a university senior or above.
  • We are a Canadian-based company.
  • All positions are remote.
  • We require mandatory meeting availability (depending on your role).
  • Work hours are based in MST (Mountain Standard Time).
