Resiliency & Sustainability Student Assistant
The Division of Resiliency and Sustainability (R&S) provides technical assistance and policy guidance to State agencies and authorities to meet New York's climate goals. R&S is working to support multiple State initiatives, including transitioning to Zero-Emission Vehicles, decarbonizing our buildings and making them more energy-efficient, preparing our properties for future climate risks, and providing mechanisms to support green procurement. A key program is the implementation of waste initiatives to reduce waste generation at OGS and increase diversion of our waste from landfill, starting with improvements at Empire State Plaza in Albany.
- Project management and coordination: Assist the OGS Waste team in implementing plans to reduce the use of single-use plastics, reduce food waste, and roll out new bins and signage for office buildings at Empire State Plaza.
- Outreach and education: Support the development of training materials, informational resources, and events related to reducing single-use plastics; raising awareness about and improving waste sorting – waste vs recyclables; and reducing food waste.
- Data analysis: Assist with monitoring and evaluation of implemented waste initiatives.
