Job Description

 

Job Overview: 

We are seeking an experienced Architectural Engineer to join our team, focusing on the integration of building systems with architectural design. The ideal candidate will combine engineering principles with architectural concepts to create efficient, sustainable, and structurally sound building solutions.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Design and analyze building systems including structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing 
  • Develop comprehensive building design solutions that integrate all technical systems 
  • Create detailed engineering calculations and documentation 
  • Prepare and review construction documents and specifications 
  • Coordinate with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines 
  • Perform building performance analyses and energy modeling 
  • Ensure compliance with building codes and safety regulations 
  • Develop sustainable design solutions • Conduct site inspections during construction 
  • Review shop drawings and submittals 
  • Provide technical support during construction phases 
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering 
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license 
  • 5+ years of experience in building systems design 
  • Strong knowledge of building codes and standards 
  • Proficiency in engineering design software 
  • Experience with integrated building design 
  • Understanding of sustainable design principles 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Strong project management abilities 
  • Effective communication skills

Preferred Qualifications: 

Master's degree in Architectural Engineering or related field 

LEED AP certification 

Experience with BIM technology 

Knowledge of energy modeling software 

Background in commissioning 

Experience with historic preservation projects

The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background combined with creative problem-solving abilities. Must be able to work effectively in a collaborative environment, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and maintain high standards of quality. The ability to balance technical requirements with architectural design intent is essential, as is staying current with evolving building technologies and sustainable design practices.
