Web Design and SEO Assistant Intern

Gigi's Decor and More is seeking a motivated student with web design experience to help maximize our website reach, develop search engine optimization (SEO), and collaborate on a website redesign to deliver the best possible user experience. This role is remote and is ideal for someone building hands-on experience in web design, UX, and SEO.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct SEO audits and keyword research to inform page optimization and content strategy.
  • Implement on-page SEO improvements (title tags, meta descriptions, header structure, alt text, internal linking, schema basics) and monitor impact.
  • Assist with website redesigns and UX enhancements (navigation, layout, mobile responsiveness, accessibility) in collaboration with the ownership team.
  • Update and manage website content (product pages, blog posts, banners) using WordPress and ensure consistency with branding.
  • Monitor website performance using analytics and prepare monthly performance reports with actionable insights.
  • Identify and fix technical issues (broken links, image optimization, page speed improvements) to improve user experience and search ranking.
  • Collaborate with Social Media Manager to align website content with promotional campaigns and social initiatives.
  • Stay current on SEO and UX best practices; propose data-driven enhancements.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a relevant program (web design, computer science, marketing, digital media, or related field).
  • Demonstrated web design experience and a portfolio or sample projects.
  • Familiarity with WordPress and basic HTML/CSS; experience with responsive design.
  • Foundational knowledge of SEO best practices and basic keyword research tools.
  • Analytical mindset with comfort analyzing data and deriving actionable recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; collaborative team player.
  • Able to manage time effectively and meet deadlines; comfortable working remotely.
  • Available to commit a defined number of hours per week (e.g., 8–12 hours) for a term or internship.

Preferred Skills (Desirable)

  • Experience with Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and basic data reporting.
  • Basic graphic editing (Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud) for banners and page assets.
  • Experience with performance optimization (image optimization, caching, lazy loading).
  • Familiarity with e-commerce product pages and conversion-focused design.

Compensation and Terms

  • Hourly compensation to be discussed based on term of internship.
  • Flexible schedule; remote work.
