Seasonal Pop-Up Associate
Position Overview
The Seasonal Pop-Up Associate supports on-site food distribution events, helping ensure safe, efficient, and welcoming pop-up operations for community members. This role is ideal for someone who is dependable, people-oriented, and motivated by community impact. Associates play a key role in event setup, food handling, and direct engagement with individuals receiving food.
Please note: Hours for this role are offered on an as-needed basis, typically totaling 5–15 hours per month.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the setup, execution, and breakdown of pop-up food distribution events
- Support safe food handling, sorting, packing, and distribution in accordance with food safety standards
- Greet and assist community members in a respectful, welcoming, and inclusive manner
- Help manage crowd flow to maintain organized and efficient distribution lines
- Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and partner organizations on site
- Communicate on-site needs, concerns, or incidents to the event lead or supervisor
- Represent Sharing Excess’ mission, values, and professionalism during all community-facing events
Requirements
- Access to reliable transportation to and from events across the greater Philadelphia area (no gas reimbursement)
- Ability to lift, carry, and move food boxes and supplies repeatedly (up to 50 lbs)
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time (2–4 hours)
- Comfort supporting in-person, community-facing engagement
- Weekend availability for shifts up to 4 hours
Schedule
- Seasonal role running March through August
- Applicants are encouraged to apply even if unable to support the full season
- Shifts generally occur between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM, lasting 2–4 hours
- Associates may support up to three events per week, or as few as one event every other week, TBD based on business needs
- Hours vary based on distribution schedule and operational needs
Compensation
- $22-23/hour
