Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the revenue cycle by ensuring accurate billing and collections for medical services provided. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and the ability to navigate various billing software. The Medical Biller will work closely with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to resolve billing issues and ensure timely payments.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit accurate medical billing claims to insurance companies and government payers.
- Review patient records and documentation to ensure compliance with coding standards.
- Utilize coding systems such as ICD-10 and ICD-9 for proper diagnosis and procedure coding.
- Manage accounts receivable, including follow-up on unpaid claims and patient balances.
- Conduct medical collections as necessary, communicating effectively with patients regarding their accounts.
- Maintain detailed records of all billing transactions and communications.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in patient records or billing information.
- Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations, coding practices, and insurance policies.
Skills
- Proficiency in medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, DRG (Diagnosis Related Group), and coding practices.
- Experience with medical collection processes and handling patient inquiries related to billing.
- Familiarity with both ICD-10 and ICD-9 coding systems is essential.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical skills for reviewing complex data.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with patients, healthcare professionals, and insurance representatives.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
