Ropes Course Coordinator

The Ropes Course Coordinator works with the Ropes Course Assistant to help facilitate the high and low elements of our challenge course and 40’ climbing tower. Must have experience with low challenge course elements and be willing to learn belaying and other skills for the tower and high challenge course elements. Must be physically able to climb the tower and high challenge course, ensure the safety of all participants and help Ropes Coordinator with rope takedown. 

  • Supervise, lead, and monitor challenge course activities for campers/villages
    • This includes observing safety on the ground and on the high ropes course. 
  • Guide campers and outside groups in correctly putting on harnesses, participating in the belay team and other safety at the ropes course. 
  • Be the main Belay person for all participants on the challenge course.
  • Lead/teach team building activities for campers and staff
    • Through games, materials, etc. with the help of the Challenge Course Coordinator
  • Maintain upkeep of elements and logs of ropes/gear. Including general maintenance as well as weeding, landscaping, movable parts, etc.
  • Supervise the Ropes Course Assistant and help to create schedules for their time at the Ropes Course.
  • Attend all staff meetings on Sundays and Fridays
  • Participate, Lead, and Create daily worships. 
  • Keep a clean cabin space. Participate in weekly camp cleaning in a timely manner.
  • When not leading campers or tending to other duties – support cabin leaders. Communicate with the Program Coordinator for any needs. This may be leading an activity for a cabin leader, helping with a specific camper, or preparing materials for other activities.
  • Connect with campers and help them feel safe and confident at camp. 
    • Report any conversations with confidential information.
  • Know and be prepared for any emergency procedures
  • Support and supervise campers emotional and physical safety.
  • Follow all Personnel Policies

Qualifications:

  • Be a team player. The Ropes Course Coordinator will work with all campers and staff from different backgrounds. 
  • Positive Attitude. Camp can be hard – staying positive helps campers and staff feel energized.
  • Willingness to be a listening ear and empathetic voice
  • Open minded and willing to help out in other areas. 
  • Creativity – will be creating new nature games and think of how to engage campers
  • Strong commitment to safety and rules.
  • Able to express personal faith in Jesus Christ.
