Position Description
Marathon Trading is seeking a Trader / Quant Trader to join our trading team in Radnor, PA.
This role is ideal for candidates currently completing, or recently graduated from, a Master’s program in Quantitative Finance, Financial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a similar discipline (for example Carnegie Mellon, Princeton, Columbia, MIT, NYU, or similar programs).
You will work closely with experienced traders and quants in a flat, collaborative team structure, gaining direct exposure to live trading, strategy development, and quantitative research.
This role may be structured as either a full time position or internship for the right candidate.
What You’ll Be Doing
• Support traders in managing and monitoring the firm’s derivatives trading book
• Monitor market volatility, liquidity, and macro events and communicate meaningful changes in real time
• Analyze positions and recommend adjustments based on market conditions and risk exposures
• Conduct quantitative research on options markets and develop trade ideas for the trading desk
• Assist with trade execution under the supervision of senior traders
• Build and improve tools, algorithms, and automated processes related to volatility trading
• Apply data analysis and quantitative techniques, including machine learning where appropriate
• Research and evaluate new technologies that could improve trading infrastructure or performance
• Contribute across the full research lifecycle, from idea generation and prototyping to production implementation and performance analysis
Qualifications
We are looking for highly motivated individuals who enjoy solving difficult problems and working in fast moving markets. We value intellectual curiosity and strong analytical thinking as much as prior knowledge.
Preferred Qualifications
• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Master’s program in Quantitative Finance, Financial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or Computer Science
• Prior internship experience at a trading firm or hedge fund (examples include SIG, Citadel, Jane Street, HRT, DRW, Optiver, etc.) is a plus
• Strong interest in derivatives, volatility trading, and market microstructure
• Demonstrated ability to think probabilistically and identify edge in markets
• Strong programming skills, particularly in Python, and experience with C#, C++, or SQL
• Familiarity with data analysis, statistical modeling, or machine learning techniques
• Knowledge of electronic trading systems or market structure is helpful but not required
