STEM Teaching Intern

STEM Teaching Internship

Saddle River Day School hosts a Teaching Internship Program designed to provide current college students in STEM fields meaningful experience in independent school teaching. We are seeking part-time Teaching Interns in a variety of subjects during the academic school year. Areas of need include, but are not limited to: robotics, engineering, computer science (AI, natural language processing, product development, etc.), data science, mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics, graphic design, and statistics. This position is ideal for college juniors or seniors interested in education.  

Key responsibilities

  • Assist teachers in a variety of duties for classes aligned with your studies 
  • Participate in regular meetings with a faculty mentor or Department Chair
  • Engage in ongoing professional development sessions offered by the school
  • Observe and learn from experienced teachers across divisions

The ideal candidate will: 

  • Be working towards a Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field 
  • Have a passion for working with middle and upper school students
  • Demonstrate a desire to learn, grow, and reflect on teaching practices
  • Show an interest in collaborative work, curriculum development, and innovative teaching methods
  • Be organized, empathetic, and committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment

Compensation and Schedule

  • Hourly pay: $20 - $25 per hour (commensurate with experience and education)
  • Schedule: Internships are typically semester long and range from 5-20 hours per week, depending on program needs and candidate availability
