Qualification Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an Accelerated Compensation for Developmental Position (ACDP) under the direct guidance of a Senior Computer Scientist, performing duties in support of assigned program(s) for 518 SWES/MXDPB. This position is intended to develop incumbents who can deal effectively with change and complexity within the Air Force environment as it relates to their career field; to perform the full range of work, to apply the training and/or education received and complete developmental assignments and training outlined in the formal training & development plan. The full performance (target) level of this position is [NH-03]. Incumbent must meet all regulatory training requirements prior to promotion to the target grade. The incumbent will receive formal, informal, and/or on-the-job training in the specialty area, and assignments will become progressively more difficult in nature. Assignments at this level are designed to provide the knowledges, skills, and abilities required to successfully
perform the duties at the full performance level.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- U.S. Citizenship
- A Computer Science degree at the bachelor’s level from an institution with an ABET accredited program or a closely related field is highly desired
- Obtain & maintain a Secret security clearance
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft
- May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours.
- Designated as a Non-Critical Acquisition Position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP)
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Cyberspace qualification in accordance with DoDM 8140.03

Recruitment Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

1. Professional knowledge of computer science, policies, theories, principles and concepts to apply to scientific methods and techniques to solve assigned problems.

2. Professional knowledge of theoretical foundations of computer science, including digital computer systems architecture and systems software organization.

3. Professional knowledge of computer science and related disciplines to design, develop and adapt scientific
methods and techniques to recommend solutions for computer problems.

4. Ability to analyze, interpret and apply computer science procedures in a variety of situations and recommend
effective solutions to senior scientists.
