Role Overview:
The CNC Machinist III is responsible for independently setting up and operating Star SR and SV style 7–9 axis turning centers to manufacture precision laboratory and medical device components. This role requires advanced programming knowledge, strong troubleshooting ability, and expertise in part processing. The CNC Machinist III also supports, mentors, and trains other machinists within the department.

Key Responsibilities:
- Independently set up and operate Star CNC 7–9 axis turning centers.
- Ensure all products meet IMI quality standards.
- Troubleshoot machinery within the assigned manufacturing cell.
- Perform advanced setups using existing programs.
- Optimize cycle times, operational efficiency, and tool life.
- Maintain productivity at 100% or above through accurate setups and effective machine operation while supporting schedule adherence.
- Produce quality parts while minimizing scrap and rework through proper measurement techniques, inspection methods, and use of gauges.
- Identify and communicate potential product or process issues to maintain IMI quality standards.
- Foster a positive team environment through clear communication and mutual respect.
- Ensure paperwork is accurate, neat, and legible to reduce errors and prevent rework.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workstation following all safety and housekeeping guidelines.
- Accurately complete records, datasheets, work orders, and timecards to prevent costly mistakes.
- Continue developing skills to support flexibility within the department.
- Train and mentor new machinists.
- Perform other related duties and projects as assigned.
Critical Competencies for Success:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience setting up Star SR and SV turning centers.
- Advanced knowledge of machines, tools, and programming in one or more areas.
- Advanced multi‑axis machining experience (5th axis + live tooling).
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues using root cause analysis.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively and lead within a team environment.
- Proficient in the use of basic inspection gauges and test equipment.
- Solid working knowledge of computers, root cause analysis methods, and basic mathematics.
