Production Support Drafter

ROLE SUMMARY

A Production Support Drafter creates drawings to help production employees produce window and door products. They are responsible for taking customer facing drawings and breaking them down into individual parts so each assembly area has the information they need to complete the assembly.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review orders and quotes for accurate sizing information.
  • Ensure original order accuracy for remakes.
  • Create production and vendor drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Generate special grille drawings for glass vendors.
  • Develop DXF files for glass
  • Create templates for manufacturing specific units.
  • Prepare drawings, dimensions, and PDFs for all production facilities and outside vendors.
  • Size units from customer supplied templates
  • Calculate specific dimensions for non-current products using formulas.
  • Provide dimensions and angles for trap cutters.
  • Analyze and resolve sizing issues for production staff.
  • Problem-solve discrepancies in drawings within quoting software.

 

IDEAL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:

  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Able to work and effectively communicate with production staff and interoffice departments.
  • Able to juggle multiple projects in different stages at any given time.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment to meet project deadlines.
  • Knowledge of operating CAD systems (AutoCAD preferred).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Teams, etc)
  • Ability to understand and interpret engineering specifications and other technical information sources.

 

EDUCATION: 

Associate’s degree in CAD or equivalent is preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE: 

Prior experience in window & door industry is a plus.
