Job Description
The PCRB IT internship will allow you to apply skills and knowledge you have learned in school, while contributing to company projects and playing a key role within the IT department. Our company will provide you hands-on experience to fit your career objectives, evolve and complement your academic studies and help grow your knowledge base. The paid internship runs for approximately 7-10 weeks throughout the summer beginning in early June through end of August.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Create root cause analysis documents for minor issues fixed recently for key apps in PCRB by doing reverse engineering of code base
- Support and understand standard software life cycle process for Waterfall and Agile methodology
- Participate and assist in testing applications (smoke testing and functional testing aspects)
- Be able to learn and utilize basic tools for GIT usage to learn code repository basic details
- Creating technical documentation on new processes, as well as additions and enhancements to already established documentation
- Assist the IT Infrastructure team in addressing system and technology alerts or interruptions of service
- Gain knowledge in troubleshooting, diagnosing, resolving, and communicating solutions to end user’s IT problems
- Assist in configuring and deploying new user equipment (Laptops, Docking Stations, Screens, etc.)
- Utilize research, problem solving and analytical skills to support end-users and contribute to projects
- Gain exposure to a range of information technology areas, such as applications, systems architecture, network systems and infrastructure
- Perform other miscellaneous duties as requested
Requirements:
Education: Currently pursuing a B.S. in Information Systems/Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
Experience: No previous experience required, but candidates must express willingness and aptitude to learn new skills quickly and show earnest ability to work both independently and with instruction
Technical Skills:
- C# or VB .net code beneficial, but not required
- Basic SQL skills beneficial, but not required
Core Skills Required:
- Ability to articulate IT’s role in enabling and supporting innovation, competitive differentiation, and business process/workflow efficiencies
- Excellent oral and written English communication, interpersonal, presentation and planning skills at a macro levels. Strong decision-making skills.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office proficiency required to analyze and present information (Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint).
- Fundamental knowledge of desktop computer hardware, operating systems and computer networks
