Entry-Level Planner
About the Opportunity:
We are a land planning and design firm based on Eastern Long Island seeking an entry-level planner to join our team. This is a hands-on role focused on real-world land use, site planning, and permitting. You will work directly on active projects and gain exposure to the full approval process—from initial concept through municipal approvals.
This position is ideal for a recent graduate interested in land use, environmental planning, or development who wants practical experience in a fast-paced consulting environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Assist in preparing site plans (AutoCAD or similar drafting tools)
- Research zoning codes and analyze development constraints
- Help assemble applications for local and state agencies, including:
- Town Planning Boards and Zoning Boards
- Suffolk County Department of Health
- NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC)
- Draft written materials such as project narratives and application documents
- Coordinate with surveyors, engineers, architects, and attorneys
- Attend meetings, hearings, and occasional site visits
What You’ll Learn:

- How to navigate zoning, environmental, and health department regulations
- How to prepare professional submission packages
- How to work with consultants and municipal agencies
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (or graduating senior) in:
- Planning, Environmental Studies, Geography, Landscape Architecture, or related field
- Internship or coursework related to land use, GIS, or site planning preferred
- Basic familiarity with AutoCAD or GIS is a plus
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Organized, detail-oriented, and eager to learn
Compensation:
- Salary: $64,000
