ABOUT THE ANTHEM ACADEMY
The Anthem Academy is a NYC-based artist development and media education organization operating under Anthem Nation. We build community-centered media programs for emerging creatives across New York City's five boroughs — covering music production, content creation, podcasting, and digital media literacy. Our Media Labs are active, hands-on learning environments where participants gain real industry skills in a supportive, professional setting.
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Media Lab Assistant Intern is a key support role within The Anthem Academy's day-to-day lab operations. You will assist in maintaining a functional, organized, and energized media lab environment — helping participants, supporting sessions, and keeping equipment and resources in top shape.
This is an ideal opportunity for a student studying media production, communications, audio engineering, digital arts, or a related field who wants hands-on experience inside a working creative education lab. You will be on the ground during workshops, bootcamps, and recording/production sessions, assisting staff and participants in real time.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with the daily setup, operation, and breakdown of Media Lab sessions and equipment
- Support instructors and program staff during workshops, bootcamps, and hands-on production sessions
- Help participants troubleshoot basic technical issues with software, hardware, and lab equipment
- Maintain organized, clean, and fully functional lab workstations between sessions
- Track equipment usage, inventory, and condition; flag any maintenance needs to staff
- Assist with logging session data, attendance, and lab usage records
- Support the creation and organization of digital assets including session recordings, exports, and project files
- Help onboard new participants to lab tools, platforms, and workflows
- Contribute ideas for improving the lab experience and session flow
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Currently enrolled in a college or university program in Media Production, Audio Engineering, Communications, Digital Arts, Music Technology, Film/Video, or a related field
- Familiarity with digital audio workstations (DAWs) such as GarageBand, Logic Pro, FL Studio, or Ableton
- Basic knowledge of video or content creation tools (CapCut, Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, or similar)
- Comfortable working with computers, A/V equipment, microphones, and studio peripherals
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for equipment and data tracking
- Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, people-centered environment
- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate clearly with participants and staff
- Prior experience in a studio, lab, or creative workspace is a plus but not required

All terms are unpaid and completed for academic credit. Students are responsible for coordinating credit approval with their college or university prior to the start of the internship.
This is an on-site internship. Only candidates located within New York City or the immediate NYC metro area will be considered. Remote applications will not be reviewed.
