About the Role

The Business Analyst will support the Core Lines Data Strategy Business Intelligence team by assisting with data analysis, reporting, and the development of insights that help inform business and product decisions. This role is ideal for a recent graduate interested in data, analytics, and problem solving, and provides hands‑on exposure to how business intelligence is used in a real‑world environment.

As an entry‑level position, the Business Analyst will work closely with experienced analysts and team members to learn how data is structured, validated, analyzed, and visualized through reports and dashboards. The role focuses on building foundational skills in data analysis, reporting, and communication while developing an understanding of Verisk’s products, customers, and core business processes.

Responsibilities

  • Learn how business and operational data is used to answer business questions and support data-driven decisions
  • Support the creation of basic reports, dashboards, and summaries with guidance from experienced analysts
  • Assist with checking and validating data to help ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Document work and communicate findings in a clear, thoughtful way
  • Build foundational skills in data analysis, reporting tools, business intelligence, and data visualization 

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills Abilities

  • Interest in using data to answer business questions and support decision‑making
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail
  • Understanding of foundational data, analytics, or business intelligence concepts gained through coursework or academic projects
  • Ability to communicate ideas and findings clearly, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work collaboratively, manage multiple tasks, and take feedback
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and a strong willingness to learn in an early‑career role

Nice to have:

  • Previous exposure to data visualization or reporting tools through coursework, projects, or internships
  • Prior internship or co‑op experience in an analytical, technical, or business role
  • Exposure to financial services, insurance, or related industries through work experience, internships, or academic programs

Requirements

  • Graduating in May 2026
  • Bachelor’s Degree with a major in fields such as:
    • Business Analytics
    • Data Analytics or Data Science
    • Information Systems, Management Information Systems (MIS), or Computer Information Systems
    • Computer Science or a related analytics‑focused discipline
    • Business or Business Management with a demonstrated focus on data, analytics, or information systems
  • Experience using a coding or query language such as SQL, gained through coursework, academic projects, internships, or similar hands‑on learning
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting, including basic formulas and data organization
