Junior Buyer | Lidl US

Are you ready to shape the future of grocery retail? Lidl US is looking for a motivated Junior Buyer (Internal Title: Assistant Category Manager) to join our Purchasing team! In this role, you will play a vital part in our purchasing strategy, helping us deliver high-quality products and the best value to our customers.

 

The Role

As a Junior Buyer, you will contribute to Lidl’s growth through market analysis, supplier sourcing, and contract negotiations. You will work closely with and shadow Senior Category Managers in cross-departmental meetings and field assignments to learn the ropes of international retail.

 

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Manage assigned projects and work processes to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Market Analysis: Prepare category, quality control, and trend analysis while monitoring the retail landscape.
  • Supplier Relations: Support negotiations and maintain ongoing communication with domestic and international suppliers.
  • KPI Tracking: Analyze key performance indicators in coordination with senior leadership.
  • Quality Assurance: Assist in product tastings and quality assurance for negotiated items.
    Process Improvement: Identify and propose opportunities for business and process improvements.

 

What You’ll Need

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Retail, Merchandising, or a related field.
    • Note: 5+ years of related experience can be substituted for a degree.
  • Experience: 2–4 years of experience in a related field
  • Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Tech Savvy: Proficiency in Google Workspace tools, Microsoft Office Suite, or related software
  • Preferred: 1–6 months of purchasing experience in a grocery retail setting is a plus!

 

The Details

  • Location: On-site at Lidl US Corporate Headquarter Office
  • Travel: Less than 25% domestic overnight travel and local commuting between stores/distribution centers.
  • Physical: Ability to sit for prolonged periods and lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
