About The Drake Gives
The Drake Gives is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to music education in public schools. It is the nonprofit foundation affiliated with The Drake, the iconic Laguna Beach restaurant that opened in 2019 and has become one of Orange County’s premier destinations for dining and live music. In partnership with Save The Music, The Drake Gives has raised over $900,000 and helped provide music education opportunities to more than 17,000 students, growing its impact throughout Orange County and beyond.
The Drake Gives is partnered with the Alec Glasser Center for the Power of Music & Social Change at the UC Irvine School of Social Ecology, reflecting a shared mission to advance opportunity, education, and social impact through music. This role offers a unique opportunity for students and graduates to engage with work aligned across both nonprofit and academic initiatives.
Position Overview
We are seeking a creative, detail-oriented Marketing & Design Coordinator with a strong interest in social media, storytelling, and visual design. This role offers hands-on experience supporting a growing nonprofit and working on real campaigns, events, and brand initiatives.
This is a remote, flexible, part-time role ideal for someone looking to build a portfolio while contributing to meaningful, mission-driven work.
Responsibilities
Social Media (Primary Focus)
- Plan and create 1–3 weekly posts (Instagram-focused)
- Increase posting cadence during events (3–4/week)
- Assist with content calendar and campaign planning
- Write captions aligned with brand voice and mission
- Source and edit photo/video content
- Track engagement and suggest improvements
Graphic Design (Secondary)
- Design marketing materials for events and campaigns
- Assist with quarterly newsletters and annual report
- Update website graphics and digital assets
- Support occasional design needs for The Drake restaurant and affiliated projects
- Opportunity to contribute to larger initiatives (e.g., website design for family office)
Events & Program Engagement
- Attend select fundraising events, check presentation ceremonies, and school visits
- Capture photo and video content for social media and marketing use
- Document classroom moments and student impact stories
- Assist in covering professional development workshops and partner programs
- Curate and share content that highlights the mission and real-world impact of The Drake Gives
Qualifications
- Current student or recent graduate (all majors welcome)
- Resides in Orange County, with interest in being connected to the local community and program impact
- Strong interest in social media marketing and/or graphic design
- Experience with:
- Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools
- Instagram content creation
- Strong visual eye and attention to detail
- Organized, reliable, and able to meet deadlines
- Passion for music, nonprofit work, or community impact is a plus
