Overview

Johnson Service Group (JSG), a nationally recognized professional recruiting firm, is seeking an entry level Import Specialist for a hybrid/remote opportunity in Ladson, SC. Candidates should have a Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain or a related field and 0-2 years of relevant internship, co-op, or professional experience. 

The Import Specialist will play a key role in coordinating import activities, ensuring compliance with customs regulations, and delivering exceptional service to clients.

Key Responsibilities

Client Management & Support

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, building and maintaining strong relationships.
  • Understand client needs and provide tailored import solutions to support their business objectives.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Review import documentation including commercial invoices, bills of lading, packing lists, and certificates of origin for accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure all import activities align with applicable customs laws and regulatory requirements.

Customs Clearance & Operations

  • Oversee the customs clearance process, ensuring timely and compliant release of imported goods.
  • Proactively address import-related challenges such as customs delays, documentation discrepancies, and transportation issues.
  • Generate and maintain detailed shipment notes for client records and internal tracking.

Collaboration & Coordination

  • Work closely with customs brokers, import support teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth import operations.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, carriers, and government agencies to resolve issues and maintain workflow continuity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field, plus internship experience in logistics, supply chain, or customs brokerage.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
