About the Opportunity
NextGen is hiring Level 1 Data Center Field Installations Technicians to support a large-scale AI data center infrastructure buildout in Amarillo, Texas.
This is a hands-on opportunity for students, recent graduates, trade school graduates, military veterans, and early-career technical candidates who want to build experience in data centers, telecom, structured cabling, fiber optics, and IT infrastructure.
Training may be required before the start date. Candidates must be flexible to travel for training if needed.

What Youβll Do
- Assist with rack assembly and preparation
- Install rails, PDUs, cable management, and labels
- Rack and stack servers, storage, and network equipment
- Run and route Cat5, Cat6, coax, copper, and fiber cabling
- Dress, label, and organize cables inside racks
- Support basic cable testing and quality checks
- Follow installation diagrams, checklists, and technical instructions
- Maintain clean and safe work areas
- Report issues, defects, or safety concerns to the team lead
What Weβre Looking For
βοΈ Interest in data centers, telecom, networking, cabling, or IT infrastructure
βοΈ Some hands-on experience with cabling, fiber, low voltage, telecom, IT hardware, or technical lab work
βοΈ Basic knowledge of Cat5, Cat6, copper, coax, or fiber cabling preferred
βοΈ Ability to use hand tools or willingness to learn
βοΈ Comfortable working onsite in a physical technical environment
βοΈ Ability to lift equipment, stand for extended periods, and work around racks
βοΈ Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn
βοΈ Ability to follow written instructions and safety procedures

College students in IT, networking, electronics, construction technology, engineering technology, or related programs
