Retirement Specialist (403(b)) Consultant

Temporary assignment with potential for temp-to-hire based on business needs and performance

Our client, an institutional investment management firm, provides solutions across health benefits, retirement plans, risk management, and consulting. The Retirement Specialist will support the daily operations of the Retirement Department for defined contribution (403(b)/401(k)) and defined benefit retirement plans. This role will manage enrollments, process retirement payments, oversee contribution and compensation reporting, handle administrative tasks, and respond to client inquiries. Reports to the Retirement Manager, Plan Consultant, and Managing Director.

Responsibilities:
Serve as a primary point of contact for plan administrators and employees, providing guidance on 403(b) plan features, enrollments, and account management
Educate stakeholders on plan rules, retirement benefits, and financial wellness resources
Support employer onboarding and ensure smooth implementation of contribution reporting processes
Process enrollments (ERP/DC) and maintain accurate participant records and documentation
Organize enrollment forms, contribution reports, and other key documents within the document storage system
Manage contribution and compensation reporting, including processing, reconciliation, error resolution, and file submissions to Fidelity
Partner with internal teams and employers to resolve discrepancies, adjustments, and account issues
Monitor lost earnings with Fidelity and ensure timely communication and funding
Review and communicate monthly forfeitures to employers
Process distributions, including lump sum and annuity payments through Northern Trust
Handle sensitive transactions, including death notifications and hardship requests, through completion
Respond to employer and participant inquiries while supporting web administration systems and call center activity

Requirements:
1+ years of experience in retirement services, financial planning, or financial services customer support
1+ years of experience working with 403(b) and/or 401(k) plans and retirement regulations
Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts clearly
Comfortable learning new systems, working with data, and handling detail-oriented administrative work
Preferred: experience in payroll processing
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and advanced Excel skills
Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization abilities
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

The target hourly pay rate for this temporary position will range between $25-$26 per hour.
