Position Summary
The Operations Specialist is responsible for coordinating daily freight operations, ensuring timely pickups and deliveries, managing carrier relationships, and providing exceptional customer service. This role supports efficient shipment execution by monitoring freight movement, resolving service issues, and maintaining accurate operational documentation.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage daily shipments from pickup through final delivery
- Schedule pickups and communicate shipment details with carriers and customers
- Track freight status and proactively resolve delays, service failures, or exceptions
- Monitor shipment costs and ensure accurate billing and rating
- Communicate with customers regarding shipment updates, transit issues, and delivery confirmations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers and transportation partners
- Verify shipment documentation, BOLs, PODs, and invoices for accuracy
- Enter and maintain shipment data within TMS and internal systems
- Assist with claims management and freight discrepancy resolution
- Ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and transportation regulations
- Collaborate with sales, customer service, and warehouse teams to support operational efficiency
- Identify opportunities to improve routing, transit times, and cost savings
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook
