Asset Protection Investigator
AP Investigators ensure safety, protect assets, and investigate theft by conducting regular inspections, training associates, and reviewing data for trends and exceptions. They also handle internal and external investigations, including associate theft and shoplifting.
Applicants must be able to obtain Security Licensing when working in St. Charles or St. Louis Counties. Applicants must be over 21+ years old to obtain security licenses from either county.

AP Investigator Responsibilities

Safety & Security
- Conduct monthly security tours and address exceptions.
- Hold regular training sessions on safety and security practices.
- Inspect emergency exits, fire extinguishers, and emergency lighting monthly.
- Conduct quarterly fire sprinkler tests.
- Compile video and evidence for accident files.
- Monitor safety and security measures daily.

In-Stock Protection
- Review AP Hub queries for scanned stolen items, on-hand adjustments, and return on protection to identify theft trends.
- Evaluate merchandise protection solution plans.
- Train associates on applying merchandise protection devices.
- Provide solutions to impact top theft items and categories.
- Partner to build business cases for Merchandise Protection Plan exceptions.

Internal Investigations
- Investigate suspected associate misappropriation of company assets or fraud.
- Conduct integrity interviews for confirmed theft, only if trained and certified.
- Allow associates to complete voluntary statements without dictation.
- An interview is generally required before filing charges, unless the associate has left the company.
- Escalate findings to the Market Asset Protection Director (MAPM).
- Document associate theft cases in the case management system after investigation closure.
- Report policy violations to facility management, market AP leader, or Global Ethics

External Investigations
- Apprehend shoplifting suspects.
- Complete all loss events in Auror.
- Review Auror newsfeed for area-specific information.

Monitoring & Review
- Review Reg Long/Short Tool & Recycler Query for cash loss.
- Review Scanned Stolen items for potential internal cases.
- Tour backroom and associate areas for empty packages.
- Review Return Audit Query for failed audit results.
