We are seeking motivated New Yorkers to serve as field interviewers on various social science research studies, including the New York City Housing and Vacancy Survey. As a field interviewer, you play an extremely important role in the success of our research. Interviewers allow us to connect with study participants. Interviewers conduct structured in-person interviews with a knowledgeable resident of a housing unit. No previous experience is required. All training and technology will be provided. 

Required Qualifications

  1. Schedule and Availability Requirements
    1. Appropriate work credentials (U.S citizenship is a not a requirement).
    2. Must be comfortable traveling across the five boroughs and locating specific addresses.
    3. Ability to traverse several blocks at a time, including ascending and descending stairs, and transporting study equipment and materials.
    4. Must be comfortable entering private buildings and entering people’s homes for interviews.
    5. Comfortable speaking strangers.
    6. Comfortable with technology and using a laptop.
    7. Experience with adhering to strict procedures and protocols
  2. Work a minimum of 25 hours per week, most of these hours will be worked on weekends (Sat and/or Sun) and weekday evenings (4-8 pm). 
  3. Have the flexibility in your schedule to adjust your work times to meet the needs of study participants. 
  4. Attend virtual weekly team meetings, typically held on weekdays during business hours.
  5. Attend training and successfully complete all certifications.

    2. Prior work or volunteer experience with NYC community
    3. Experience working with confidential data or familiarity with data privacy
    4. Lives in the 5 boroughs

Wages and Benefits

  1. Wages: $27 per hour

This position is on a temporary basis through a third party contractor. Temporary staff are not eligible for health, dental, vision or other benefits related to their employment. Applicants need to be authorized to work in the US.
