Field Interviewer
We are seeking motivated New Yorkers to serve as field interviewers on various social science research studies, including the New York City Housing and Vacancy Survey. As a field interviewer, you play an extremely important role in the success of our research. Interviewers allow us to connect with study participants. Interviewers conduct structured in-person interviews with a knowledgeable resident of a housing unit. No previous experience is required. All training and technology will be provided.
Required Qualifications
- Schedule and Availability Requirements
- Appropriate work credentials (U.S citizenship is a not a requirement).
- Must be comfortable traveling across the five boroughs and locating specific addresses.
- Ability to traverse several blocks at a time, including ascending and descending stairs, and transporting study equipment and materials.
- Must be comfortable entering private buildings and entering people’s homes for interviews.
- Comfortable speaking strangers.
- Comfortable with technology and using a laptop.
- Experience with adhering to strict procedures and protocols
- Work a minimum of 25 hours per week, most of these hours will be worked on weekends (Sat and/or Sun) and weekday evenings (4-8 pm).
- Have the flexibility in your schedule to adjust your work times to meet the needs of study participants.
- Attend virtual weekly team meetings, typically held on weekdays during business hours.
- Attend training and successfully complete all certifications.

Wages and Benefits
- Wages: $27 per hour
This position is on a temporary basis through a third party contractor. Temporary staff are not eligible for health, dental, vision or other benefits related to their employment. Applicants need to be authorized to work in the US.
