Description: 

The Real-world IT Skills & Experience (RISE) program is an unpaid apprenticeship through the NYC Office of the Mayor, Information Technology department which provides hands-on IT experience in a government environment. Participants work alongside technology professionals, gaining practical skills in IT support, asset management, technology deployments, inventory, end-user support, and project coordination.

RISE offers mentorship, real-world experience, and exposure to industry best-practices while supporting public service. The program helps participants build technical and professional skills and may satisfy academic internship or experiential learning requirements, subject to institutional approval.

About the Positions:

Apprenticeship opportunities are available for current undergraduate students, current graduate students, and individuals who have already graduated from college and are willing to participate. This program is unpaid and fully in-person.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in person. Hybrid or remote work is not available.
  • Undergraduate Students:
    • Must be currently enrolled and registered for courses at a college or university.
  • Graduate Students:
    • Must be currently enrolled in a graduate-level program.
  • College Graduates:
    • Individuals who have already graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program may apply as apprentice participants.
