Pay: $30–$40 per hour (depending on experience)

Do you enjoy using American Sign Language to connect with others and help people learn something meaningful?

 

We're looking for a Part-Time American Sign Language (ASL) Instructor to lead engaging, interactive classes for students during our Fall 2026 enrichment program. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working with young learners and wants to make ASL fun, approachable, and engaging.

 

Whether you've taught ASL before, use ASL regularly, are studying Deaf Studies, or simply have strong ASL skills and enjoy teaching others, we'd love to hear from you.

 

You'll receive curriculum guidance and ongoing support, so you can focus on creating an enjoyable, welcoming classroom where students feel excited to learn.

 

What You'll Do

  • Teach engaging, interactive ASL lessons in an encouraging classroom environment
  • Introduce students to everyday signs, fingerspelling, basic conversations, and practical communication skills
  • Use games, activities, storytelling, and visual learning techniques to keep students engaged
  • Introduce students to Deaf culture and the importance of accessible and inclusive communication
  • Encourage participation, curiosity, and confidence as students practice new skills
  • Adapt lessons to meet the needs of students with different learning styles and experience levels
  • Create a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Monitor student progress and provide encouragement throughout the program
  • Maintain effective classroom management and organization
  • Communicate professionally with school staff and program coordinators
  • Arrive prepared and ready to create a great learning experience

 

We're Looking For Someone Who

  • Is comfortable communicating in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Enjoys working with children or students
  • Has strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Creates an engaging, patient, and welcoming learning environment
  • Is dependable, organized, and professional
  • Can explain concepts clearly and encourage student participation
  • Is open to learning and receiving feedback
  • Has experience teaching, tutoring, mentoring, coaching, volunteering with youth, or leading groups (preferred, but not required)
