Applications Engineer (Coop)

Headquartered in Switzerland, Synova is a high-tech capital equipment manufacturer of unique laser micro-machining systems. Leveraging its patented Laser MicroJet technology, Synova is expanding in fields such as aviation and aerospace manufacturing, medical micro-machining, and diamond toolmaking. As such, we are looking to fill the position of a Co-Op Applications Engineer (CAE)

To support Synova’s exciting growth ramp in North America, we are looking to fill a Co-Op engineering position in the North-East region of the United States. The ideal candidate will be an engineering graduate student with knowledge of the physics of lasers.

Under the supervision of a Senior Applications Engineer, the CAEs work to apply Synova’s Laser MicroJet technology to customer-specific applications. The CAE must work closely with both internal groups such as applications, engineering, sales and marketing, as well as with customer engineers. At the core, the CAE engineer must define and optimize laser micro-machining processes to meet customer requirements. The work will take place primarily at Synova’s Secaucus NJ lab, although travel to specific customer sites may be needed.

·       Operate and maintain Laser MicroJet machines in Synova’s Secaucus NJ Micro-Machining Center.

·       Review customer specifications. Provide technical input to RFIs and RFQs. Perform baseline tests as needed. Develop application strategies for specific applications. Seek peer review from Synova’s technical community, as needed.

·       Perform Laser Micromachining tests and establish optimum parameter set to meet customer expectations. Optimize laser processes to maximize speed, yield, machining quality and precision
