Aerospace Engineering Co-Op (Mechanical and Electrical Engineering)

Solid understanding of schematics and how they work. Fundamental knowledge PCB architecture. The position is for a student who has an interest in gaining valuable hands-on knowledge on industry level CAD tools and its role in design engineering. The successful candidate will interface with OrCAD-CIS/CIP (schematic capture and component management tool), Cadence OrCAD PCB Editor and ViewMate gerber tool. The student will use these tool(s) to take on the following responsibilities:
  1.  Interface with manufacturer’s part specifications on electronic components, passive and active. Use this information to build symbols, footprints, and use part parametrics to specify electronic components.
  2. Learn about electronic component library management and its integration into schematic capture and PCB layout. Interaction with library will comprise at least 50% of job responsibilities.
  3.  Gain an understanding on generating file types used to fabricate and assemble bare boards.
  4.  Gain a solid foundation and understanding of the varying types of industry standard electronic components.
  5. Have the opportunity to explore the many other Electrical Engineering disciplines within Zodiac Innovative Power Solutions (ZIPS).

This opportunity will give a real life scenario of how an avionics electrical product is designed and used in the field. It will also consist of visiting an assembly house where our bare boards are assembled.
