POSITION SUMMARY:
The Employee Engagement, Rewards, and Recognition Intern is responsible for supporting the development and mobilization of Amtrak’s inclusion and culture strategy focused on the areas of employee engagement, rewards, and recognition. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Contribute to and support projects and programs that enhance employee listening and capture the voice of the employee including listening sessions, roadshows, surveys, focus groups, interviews, etc.
  • Contribute to and support company-wide and targeted employee engagement, rewards, and recognition projects and programs to meet strategic objectives and improve the employee experience.
  • Contribute to and support employee engagement, rewards, and recognition of internal and external communication strategies including email, newsletters, SharePoint sites, podcasts, social media, digital messages, etc.
  • Contribute to and support the planning and execution of annual employee engagement and recognition events (i.e., employee surveys, award programs, memorial events, employee appreciation month, etc.)
  • Provide support for cross-departmental culture initiatives with stakeholders including Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging, NWOW, Corporate Communications, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be actively pursuing a degree at an accredited educational institution.
  • Must be actively pursuing an undergraduate/graduate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development/ Psychology, Communications, or Multicultural Studies
  • Must have at least 1 year of academic undergraduate studies completed or a sophomore status at minimum.
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Strong time management skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to function independently with little supervision as part of a team in a high-need, high-volume, production-oriented department.
  • Demonstrated working experience in the corporate environment
  • Ability to travel occasionally to support in-person programs and events

 

COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills

 

The hourly range is $17.50 per hour - $35.00 per hour. Pay is based on factors including school year, program of study, etc.  In addition, paid internships include Amtrak rail pass privileges as a part of the experience along with one (1) PTO day per academic year.
