Human Resources Intern

ACCESS PT is seeking an intern to assist the Human Resources Department with a wide range of projects related to HR compliance, recruiting, onboarding/orientation, employee benefits, analytics, technology, and policies.

This internship is designed to be both educational and practical. In this position, the intern will learn how to take skills and theories acquired in school related to their areas of interest/ study and apply them in a professional setting. The intern will also gain a better understanding of the Human Resources function within an organization.

Reports to:

  • Human Resources Director and/or Human Resources Manager

Location:

  • Campbell, NY, and/or Remote

The Human Resources Intern will learn the practical application of:

  • The recruitment and hiring process.
  • Effectively utilizing various forms of social media.
  • The importance of employment law and compliance, especially regarding employment eligibility, confidentiality, proper maintenance of employee files, and forms management.
  • The interrelationship of HR and Finance in the areas of new employee paperwork and payroll issues.
  • Researching and assisting with the onboarding and termination process, use of the HR management database, and report generation.
  • Employee benefits management issues related to plan renewal and open enrollment, benefits enrollment, and termination, troubleshooting employee benefits issues, and the customer service aspect of benefits oversight.
  • Scheduling, preparing for, and managing various meetings.
  • KPI and other metrics used in HR operations.

Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in a graduate or undergraduate degree program with an interest and aptitude to work in Human Resources.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and handle numerous assignments simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Internet applications.
  • Student or professional SHRM membership is a plus.
