Intern - Engineering (Buildings)

Robert Silman Associates Structural Engineers, D.P.C., a TYLin Company, is an award-winning structural engineering firm based in New York City with offices in Boston, Washington DC, Ann Arbor, Chicago, and Los Angeles. In our 55-year history, Silman has fostered an approach centered on constant collaboration between owners, architects, and consultants to provide quality structural engineering services for our clients. 

Engineers will be exposed to a broad spectrum of renovation, preservation, and new construction projects across all architectural practice areas.

We are seeking Interns to join our team in 2024. Candidates must have academic experience related to buildings structural engineering.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with the project team to assist in preparing structural design and drawings for buildings (commercial, institutional, residential) from conceptual and preliminary stages of design through to completion.
  • Perform field review for projects under construction.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
     

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of a minimum of junior year in Civil or Architectural Engineering (with a focus on structures preferred)
  • Completion of steel and concrete design preferred, completion of at least one of these required.
  • Co-op or academic project experience related to commercial, institutional, or residential buildings would be considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with REVIT Structure would be beneficial.
  • Client focused, always striving to give clients the best solutions.

  • High levels of integrity, always doing the right thing in an ethical, fair, and sustainable way.
  • Demonstrated experience of collaboration in a diverse and inclusive team, working together toward technical excellence.
