BIM Technician

Finding the right fit:
If you know and love the Revit workflow and are a detail-oriented individual that would love to point to a local hospital, campus, or even sports arena and say, “I drafted that,” then this might be the role for you.
Our BIM technicians are at the center of our design and documentation process. You will collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and other team members to produce accurate and high-quality drawings, plans, and construction documents. Fulfillment in this role is within reach if you know how to balance your desire for quality with the efficiency needed to meet deadlines. Someone with the patience to handle multiple rounds of revisions, coordination between disciplines, and the potential for repetitive tasks will also likely perform well on our team.
 On any given day, you’ll:
  • Assist in the development of design drawings and construction documents using Revit for projects of varying size and complexity.
  • Gather the necessary measurements, dimensions, and perform other routine calculations for design layouts.
  • Analyze sketches, notes, and project meeting minutes to determine best approach to complex designs and drawings.
  • Keep a schedule, stay on budget, and ensure the smooth operation of tasks.
  • Rework and modify designs based on comments and reviews from project managers, consultants, and clients.
  • Periodically attend construction site meetings with Architect or PM to advance your knowledge and understanding of design and construction.
  • Utilize established office training processes and procedures designed to expand the knowledge and enhance the skills of the project team members.
Required qualifications:
  • A two-year architectural technology degree and 1-2 years’ architectural project experience.  (Project experience beyond 4 years may be considered an exception to educational degree requirement).
  • Standard technical knowledge needed for construction documentation in a variety of construction methods, material types, and project types.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Proficiency with Revit.
  • A willingness to travel on an as needed basis.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
 Desired skills and experiences
  • 3-D modeling proficiency including Enscape, Lumion, SketchUp, V-Ray, Blender, 3DS Max, and Revit.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office suite of programs, Autodesk collaboration and coordination software, BIM360, and Bluebeam.
  • Proven experience with a variety of building types and market sectors.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, a client service focus.   
  • Be active in civic and/or professional organizations.
  • Ability to foster an environment that lends itself to allowing staff to feel competent, supported, and driven toward career development.
