Why Women's Entrepreneurship Day and ChooseWOMEN?

The answer lies in these compelling facts: Women account for 85 percent of consumer purchases and control $20 trillion in worldwide spending. Astonishingly, they perform 66 percent of the world's work yet earn only 10 percent of the world's income.

Women's Entrepreneurship Day Organization (WEDO) is a year-round movement that supports women in business globally. Our mission is to ignite women leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs, driving economic expansion and advancing communities worldwide. WEDO's influence extends to 144 countries and 65 universities and colleges internationally, with a rapidly growing network of 333 global ambassadors spanning every continent. Together, we aim to empower the 4 billion women worldwide, serving as catalysts for change and uplifting over 250 million girls living in poverty across the globe.

We take great pride in the official recognition Women's Entrepreneurship Day has garnered. New York Governor Kathy Hochul, LA Mayor Eric Garcetti, and Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney have proclaimed Women's Entrepreneurship Day an official day on November 19th annually. Under the leadership of Congresswoman Grace Meng, the U.S. House of Representatives recognizes the WEDO movement on November 19th as "A Day in Honor of Women Entrepreneurs."

Our Impact:

The Saudi Arabia WED team hosted a nationwide entrepreneurship training program for 60,000 female college students and early-stage entrepreneurs, resulting in 25 young women receiving funding to launch their own businesses. In New York City, at the United Nations, WED donated 1000 microloans to impoverished women, empowering them to start their own businesses. In Oman, our WED ambassador announced an initiative to empower women and girls through voting against arranged marriages. Additionally, our partnership with a local university in Uruguay offered 20 scholarships to girls attending the WED summit. Our Philippines team educated 1000 rural women in financial literacy. The impact of WED's Ambassador team is felt across the world.

We are delighted to announce that exceptional individuals have joined our movement, including Anna Sui (Fashion Designer), Her Royal Highness Princess Märtha Louise of Norway, Shari Staglin (CEO Staglin Family Vineyard & Co-Founder One Mind, who has donated $1 Billion+ for mental health causes), Kathleen King (Founder Tate's Bake Shop, sold to OREO/Mondelez International for $500 Million), Eileen Murray (Co-CEO Bridgewater Associates, the world's largest hedge fund), Adi Eckhouse (Co-Founder & CEO Realface, the creators of facial recognition on your iPhone), Kate Rogers (CNBC Small Business & Entrepreneur Reporter), Craig Newmark (Founder of Craigslist), and Shannon Dellimore (CEO & Co-Founder GLAMGLOW).
