Project Management/Estimating Intern

Job Summary:

The PM/Estimating Intern will play a key role in supporting the Project Management and Estimating teams in various aspects of roadway construction projects. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in both project management and estimating, offering exposure to the entire project lifecycle. Only completed applications with all required attachments received by Monday, May 6, 2024, will be considered.

Essential Functions:

  1. Protect family and friends. At Peckham, safety is our priority. Willingness to learn and follow all safety guidelines across our different lines of business and even in corporate offices.
  2. Dedication. Assist Project Managers in coordinating and monitoring construction projects.
  3. Focused. Help maintain project documentation, schedules, and progress reports.
  4. Transparency and learning. Work closely with the Estimating team to prepare accurate and competitive bid proposals.
  5. Measurement. Assist in quantity take-offs, cost analysis, and subcontractor/vendor bid solicitations.
  6. Contribute to the preparation of project estimates and budgets.
  7. Research and gather relevant data for estimating purposes.
  8. Innovation. Analyze project data to identify trends, potential risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  9. Utilize software tools for data analysis and reporting.
  10. Communicate. Foster effective communication with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure seamless project execution.

Requirements, Education and Experience:

1.    Excellent Attendance and Punctuality. The program is scheduled to run ten weeks, Monday, June 3, 2024, through Friday, August 9, 2024. We may customize the dates according to your and/or your school’s schedule. You will be responsible for tracking your time using an automated company timecard.

2.    You are responsible for your own housing and reliable transportation.

3.    Strict adherence to all safety protocol, OSHA safety rules and regulations required.

4.    Current enrollment at an accredited college or university with a 3.0 or higher GPA

Pursuing a relevant degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or relevant field.

5.    Successful submission of our online application by Monday, May 6, 2024, and:

•    one written recommendation (e-mail ok) from a current or previous employer, teacher, or professor

6.    Proficient written and verbal English communication skills

Travel:
Position may require up to 5% travel by personal vehicle to offices throughout the state of New York, and New England based on the needs of the business.


Work Environment/Physical Demands:
Work environment is dependent upon internship placement and may operate in a professional office or physical work environment. The professional work environment is mostly sedentary, outside of travel.

 
Some internships may involve heavy work that includes heavy lifting, working near moving mechanical parts and loud equipment, the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time as well as lifting, pulling, bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing, walking, reaching, driving, and repetitive motion.
