Controls Engineer Intern
Position Description:
· This innovative internship position is specially designed for students with an interest in work with innovation and renewable energy
· This position supports the Controls and SCADA Teams at Merit Controls
Key Responsibilities:
Day-to-day tasks may include:
· Develop network Single Line Diagrams for control system builds
· Participate in Solar PV Plant Level Commissioning
· Write technical papers for application notes, users guides, and other purposes
· Prepare documentation for control system Factory Acceptance Testing
· Configure screens for SCADA
· Perform quality assurance tasks for SCADA systems
· Performing other duties as needed
Additionally, each intern will have a dedicated summer project assigned to them. While these projects have not yet been finalized, they may include improving system documentation and manuals, supporting system infrastructure and SCADA development, or another project.
Preferred Position Requirements:
Experience:
· Knowledge of programming languages C, C++, Java and/or Python
· Knowledge of network communications (Fiber, Ethernet, RS485)
· Team player that works well in collaborative situations and start-up environments
· Enthusiasm to take on new and challenging tasks
· Knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical and other AutoCAD software a plus
· Knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC) a plus
