POSITION SUMMARY

The Trading Associate role is a multifaceted position that will expose the successful candidate to all of the firm’s functional groups. This position works with our Portfolio Manager (PM) and Advisors to manage and trade clients’ assets. Responsibilities include:  executing trades for clients, supporting and updating trading/portfolio management systems, conducting due diligence on investments, and providing relevant data analysis for client presentations.  This position requires daily interaction with the PM, advisors, and other client supporting staff and therefore demands excellent written and verbal communication skills.  The candidate will be able to demonstrate technical and mathematical skillsets, as well as, the ability to provide solutions to operational/data management issues. The candidate will be a motivated self-starter with the ability to learn quickly and work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. 

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute trades for client portfolios, manage cash deposits and withdrawals, resolve trading issues with our broker/custodian
  • Manage and support the data integrity of our trading/portfolio management systems by setting up new client accounts, managing reports, updating security master details, and implementing new solutions to maintain/increase efficiency
  • Maintain ongoing due diligence of our mutual fund offerings for our retirement platform, conduct research and recommend new mutual fund additions under the guidance of the PM
  • Manage/update the firm’s excel based tools, provide data analysis to Advisors when requested

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree with major or minor in mathematics, computer science, engineering,  economics, finance, or relevant field
  • Interest in capital markets/investment management
  • Mathematical and Technical skillset
  • Significant Excel/Spreadsheet experience along with proficiency in other Microsoft Suite applications
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, follow-through, and ability to multitask
  • Prioritize workflow and handle multiple projects concurrently
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Team player, able to work well with all levels of the Firm and in a small company environment
  • Meet annual securities industries requirements for continuing education

 

PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 0-5 years experience within the Financial/Capital Markets Industry
  • Experience in trading, data analysis, maintaining/updating Excel based tools/models, and managing third party investment management platforms
  • Familiarity with risk metrics, portfolio management concepts, and trading best practices
  • Programming in VBA, Python, SQL, or other relevant languages a plus
  • Familiarity with:
    • Portfolio Management/Trading Software, preferably Tamarac
    • Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software, preferably Junxure/ Advisor Engine CRM
    • Charles Schwab Applications
