Typical starting pay  for this position is $17.46 up to $22.93 per an hour


The State of New Hampshire, Department of Safety, Division of Motor Vehicles, has a full time vacancy for Clerk IV (13-1190 MISC BUS OPS SPECS-1), which has a 37.5 hour work week and is considered non-exempt.

SUMMARY: Trains, monitors and assists authorized agents of the State, and other entities on the use of the Motor Vehicle systems, and answers questions within the Agent Helpdesk consistent with applicable state motor vehicle laws, administrative rules and policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High school diploma or high school equivalency credential. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience. 

Experience: Three years of experience in a clerical position, including supervisory experience. 

 

License/Certification: None required. 

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Selected candidate will undergo a fingerprint based criminal background check and motor vehicle record check in order to ensure suitability for exposure to confidential information.

2. Selected candidate(s) will be required to attend and successfully complete an intensive multi-week training program of classroom and on the job training, with weekly evaluations to ensure compatibility, suitability and ability to learn the complex motor vehicle systems, computer systems, processes, procedures, forms and transactions, while providing first rate customer service in an expedient, timely, accurate and polite manner in a high volume customer service area or workstation. Continued employment is contingent upon successfully completing all aspects of the training program within the first six months of employment.

3. May be required to work a flexible schedule including, but not limited to, early morning, evening and/or weekend hours. Maybe required to travel throughout the State and work at various satellite offices for periods of time.

 

Responsibilities:

Trains authorized agents on the use of the Motor Vehicle computer systems, financial systems, inventory control procedures and other related systems and procedures.

Answers questions at the customer counter, training sessions and on the telephone, providing assistance to authorized agents of the State and customers, consistent with applicable State laws, administrative rules and the Privacy law. May assist as required in the DMV contact center answering telephone calls regarding all aspects of the DMV.

Trains authorized agents regarding NH motor vehicle laws, administrative rules, policies and procedures.

Monitors authorized agents for proper computer operation, financial system, inventory control and other related systems. Verifies that the authorized agents are abiding by NH motor vehicle laws, administrative rules and policies and procedures.

May train DMV personnel and other entities in the use of the Motor Vehicle computer systems, financial systems, inventory control procedures and other related systems.

Performs customer service, clerical, filing, and general duties as assigned, including operating the Motor Vehicle computer system(s) to serve the customers, completing various Motor Vehicle transactions.

Assists in implementing new Motor Vehicle software, hardware and procedures. Assists with scheduling training as necessary.

Troubleshoot problems for authorized agents, including checking all documents for accuracy, validity and authenticity. 

Required to attend various meetings throughout the State on a regular basis. Required to work in various offices and environmental conditions.
