Must Have

• 4 years of professional Android experience with 3 of those years being the most recent.
• At least 3 years of Kotlin programming experience.
• Must have shipped an application that was delivered to the Google Play Store.
• A technical degree in Computer Science or equivalent is highly desired; in lieu of a technical degree 4 additional years of engineering experience with Java or Kotlin, preferably mobile is acceptable instead.
• Must have 2 years of Jetpack Compose development experience
• Also preferred are folks who can lead with architectural and UI/UX knowledge

Client is hiring for a Senior Android Software Engineer to join our team in San Diego, CA.

In this position, you will be designing, developing, and maintaining Android Apps and/or SDKs for an industry leading CGM device, to help improve the lives of people with diabetes.

You will be joining a well-established company that’s on an upward growth trajectory.

Where you come in:
 You will design and build applications for the Android platform
 You’ll implement requirements on Android apps, write and update design documents
 We’ll rely on you to continuously discover, evaluate and implement new technologies to strengthen development efficiency
 You’ll interface with software test to ensure high quality product
 Develop automated unit and integration tests
 You’ll participate in design, code and test reviews, provide technical leadership
 You will propose and implement enhancements to the apps to improve sustainability
 

What makes you successful:
 Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
 You have a minimum 2 years of native Android app development experience using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose and 5 years of professional software development experience
 You bring a high degree of diligence in documentation, testing and coding
 You have experience working in Agile teams & using tools such as Jira and Confluence
 You have experience using CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Bamboo, Github Actions
 You have experience with version control tools such as Git, Github, Gitlab, Bitbucket and GitFlow
 You have experience writing automated tests
 You have working knowledge of design patterns such as MVC, MVVM, MVP

Language Skills: Must be able to communicate effectively in English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

• Develop Android UI Components for our UI SDK using Jetpack Compose and develop anapplication for release.
• Employ strategies for adaptability and reuse while ensuring UI is flexible, reactive, and accessible. Implementations should be well tested, code efficient, and easy to read.
• Be an active participant of the team in all parts of the software development lifecycle.
• Lead changes and refinement of the UI SDK.
