As the Operational Risk Intern at Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines, you will join a collaborative and committed team working together towards our mission of a “disciplined pursuit of long-term business performance” and will demonstrate the Bank’s continued commitment to serving its members and meeting regulatory expectations.
As a member of the Operational Risk team, you’ll work directly with the staff in the day-to-day execution of the Bank’s overall operational risk management program with primary focus on the Department’s responsibilities related to the maintenance of an effective control environment as well as overall enhancements to the Bank’s internal control environment.
This is a full-time paid internship that begins May through August 2025.
Responsibilities/Duties/Function/Tasks
- Assists with the identification, assessment, measurement, monitoring, and reporting of operational risk
- Assists with risk and control self-assessments
- Assist with operational risk event review and reporting
- Assist with process change risk and control evaluations
- Collaborate with business units across the Bank
- Performs other duties and projects as assigned
Qualifications
- Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or Business Management student preferred
- Strong skills in MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Strong verbal and written communications skills that promote effective working relationships in a team-oriented environment
- Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Highly flexible, with the ability to execute well in a fast-paced work environment
